Goals and Strategy

We promote learning and education to make Grand Erie a "centre of learning".

Working with community partners, we want to create a culture that values education and learning as a pathway to prosperity.

Education Works has many projects and campaigns to meet these goals, including:

• Developing an online database of services available to residents interested in obtaining more education and training, specifically focused on education that would improve their likelihood of employment. This website serves as a database.
  
  
• The Education Champions campaign, highlighting people who have overcome obstacles or remained devoted to lifelong learning, and have improved their lives through education. This campaign has taken place for 5 years, and will continue with a new group of Champions in 2017.
  
  
• Lifelong Learning Week in mid-September, a week of free learning events, introducing residents to training opportunities and courses in the area. (Held for 5 years)
  
  
• Hosting a summit, bringing together opinion and business leaders to develop education-based strategies for community development. (Held successfully in 2014)
